• The Short:
My question is, is there anyway to change the behavior of the submit button on password protected posts to not just refresh the current page, but to go to the specific post that the password was submitted for? Note: Password specific redirects will not work in this case, explained below.

    The Long:
On our site we use Event Espresso for courses we offer. With Event Espresso 4, events are their own posts, and the event list is just a list of categorized posts. We have some courses that are exclusive and require a password to register for. In Event Espresso you can make a password protected event, ie. a password protected post. When viewing the event list, the event shows up as a “Protected” post and shows the password form. When you enter the password and hit submit, the behavior is just that the current page (with the whole event list) refreshes with the post now visable. Our users are not the most comfortable with technology and this behavior is confusing to them. Each term has about 15 courses, so the fact that the post is now visible is not immediately evident and they assume that it has failed. The expected outcome would be that entering the password and hitting submit would then take them to that post. There are multiple courses each year, and they all need to use the same password, so using a password specific redirect will not work.

Since that is a commercial product, we ask that you please go to their official support channel, so you can get support from the people who know it best.

    https://eventespresso.com/support/

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why it is not working properly. Other community members who may have faced your issue might be able to help you but your best bet is your product’s developer. Keep in mind we encourage you to use the official support venues, as it allows the developers to be aware of issues with their code and gives back to the community in a more robust way.

The behavior is not in the Event Espresso code, though. It is in how WordPress handles Protected Posts. The question is not specific to Event Espresso, and I am looking for information on how WordPress handles password protected posts. Event Espresso is just a method of listing posts, and does not dictate the password form behavior of a WordPress post.
