I’ve been trying to figure out why the open graph meta data specified in Yoast SEO WordPress plugin is not working on LinkedIn anymore. Images, titles, nothing is loaded.

I noticed the change after updating the plugin few weeks ago but can’t really say for sure if the two things are related. OG meta data has been working fine before and still works on Facebook.

    One example page:
    https://www.marbles.fi/koulutukset/digital-campus-digitaalinen-markkinointi-koulutus/

According to LinkedIn’s documentation everything should be fine. Any ideas?

  • Check the header data of your post (“view source” in browser).

If the OG data is there, then that’s all you can do on your side.

Yoast adds the OG data, it can’t help with how a website reads the data.

LinkedIn might simply been having a tech glitch; or your headline was stale/duplicate content; or image too small, or whatever issue might have.

My shares on LinkedIn still work just fine with latest versions of Yoast, so might be some other issue . Perhaps try the Facebook debugger tool to check the problem post?

Thanks for all the suggestions how to dig deeper into this.

    Things I’ve already done:
    – I’ve modified the OG image size in Yoast to match the requirements so it shouldn’t be that. No effect.
    – I also run the URL through couple of checking tools, including Facebook debugger, and they all were able to read the OG metadata correctly and some reported it’s ok for LinkedIn.

The weird thing is that this bug, if you can call it one, seems to be affecting the “whole site”. Meaning none of the pages and their OG data, whether it is an article or a page, regardless of the WP template, seem to behave the same on LinkedIn. So, I guess it’s something to do with LinkedIn itself. They apparently have their own cache system too.

Hi! Did you solve this issue?
I’m having the same problem! ??

Meta properties “og:title” “og:description” “og:url” and “og:image” are filled, but not handled by the Linkedin’s browser.

The image has width 1000 and height 769.
None url from my website is working:

    Any help? Thank you!

Please, someone has managed to solve this problem and can write how did it?

    thanks

Just add the following piece of code to your themes functions.php file.
