REQUEST – pls help me decide….

  • I’d like to find a PLUG-IN or THEME to do the following (in order of importance, if I can’t get everything I want):

    1. Allow me to categorize AND display detailed information
    2. Allow USERS to create CATEGORIES and ADD posts
    3. Allow USERS to MODIFY other user’s posts (ie: like a WIKI)
    4. Allow USERS to VOTE for good posts
    5. Allow the POSTS to contain or link to PDFs or other FILES.

    As such, I think I need a WIKI Plug-in / Theme. I’ve found many, but I can’t find one which allows the USERS to post and amend, and upload documents.

    the features you are looking for in a theme are too specific and have to be added externally. If you click on the link below you can have a look at the collection of some very nice free wordpress themes related to blogs.     WireDelta: many thanks. I took a look at LOVECRAFT….but it seems to be a fairly general BLOG theme. I didn’t see any options for USERS to create categories or content. Did I miss something?

    to give access to users to be able to edit categories and modify other posts, I think you will need an install like Buddypress. Did you play around with that already?

    WireDelta – no. I don’t know about BuddyPress. I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for the tip!

    Wiredelta – thanks! I tried Buddypress and I think I can use it and Buddypress Docs. However, before I get too involved with it, do you think that your LOVECRAFT would work?

    you can install buddypress with ‘Lovecraft’ theme. If for some reason, they don’t serve your purpose you can check out other free wordpress themes named ‘Business Elite’ and ‘Business World’. They are known to work well with buddypress. We will of course be happy to host your application and work with you if ordering through wiredelta.com/shop. We have about 20 WP developers that supports our users.
