• Having trouble installing wordpress. Have PHP running and MYsql latest versions as of 040816.
I put a print out in the install.php file and it prints that at the beginning of the file. So I know it gets into the file.
Is there a version of the install.php file with debugging code so I can see where it hands up?
I really think you should show progress in that file so that one knows what errors to report here.
I am not sure what to do next.
It is not that I get a blank page at the end of the install process. It is rather more like the install process does not go anywere.

    Is the server IIS ?

If I try to insert print statements I get errors like
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ELSE in c:\cutting.web\htdocs\wordpress\wp-admin\install.php on line 15
which just means I put the print statement in the wrong place. But this shows that it is accessing the code in install.php
So where does it go wrong?
How about a debugging version. I don’t know where to put the print statements in PHP.

Do you have WP installed? Why are you trying to put print it anything before it’s installed? Not being mean just curious. ??

All the versions are the latest of yesterday.
    I am using Appache 1.3
    MySql 5.1
    Wordpress 1.2 mingus
MySql is running with a database called wordpress inside it.
user, password, etc have been quadrupal checked.

Neither do I …. but a lot of us here are used to dealing with install errors, and we very rarely fail.
We do need to know details that I asked above though, and anything else about your system that you think could be important.

    php version ?

WordPress is installed in the htdocs directory.
The only thing strange about my setup is that I am using virtual hosts in Apache.
However, it seems that this is working ok. I ran a test program that could get to PHP from that directory.

    PHP 5.1

    Try a nightly – 1.3pre-alpha – download link above
1.2 will not install to php5

    Where do I find that?

    Bleeding edge or unstable builds?

unstable – not the cvs stuff.
It’s not that bad either ??

    Thread Starter Anonymous

I don’t see how you get to the unstable versions. All I can get to is under the CBS nightly builds. Where is the link to the unstable versions?

    Thread Starter Anonymous

    I’ve been able to pick up . . . https://www.ads-software.com/nightly/wordpress-2004-08-10.zip
    Is that OK?

    yep, try installing with that
