Trying to setup this plugin so that only our account administrator can view and interact with the plugin. I set the user in the box and hit add, save. Now I’m getting “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”
It seemed pretty straight forward on how to do that, is there a special way to set it up?

    Thanks!

    Hello jpartin94,

Thank you for using our plugin. Restricting access should be straight forward. When you check that option your username should be automatically added to the Can Manage Plugin settings and all other administrators should be locked out. If you would like to restore back access, simply follow the below procedure:

    1. Open the table wp_wsal_options using phpMyAdmin or a similar tool. This is the table where the plugin settings are saved.

    2. Find the following entries and delete them:
    2.a. wsal-plugin-viewers
    2.b. wsal-plugin-editors
    2.c. wsal-restrict-admins

While I trust the above answers your query, please do not hesitate to get in touch should you have any further queries.

Figured it out! I was able to restore access using your method above in phpmyadmin and then pay closer attention when setting this time.
I type the user in the CAN MANAGE field and hit add, it adds. Then when I select the check box right below it to restrict access for others to even see it, it removes the user. At which point I hit save without realizing that it actually removed the user I added. So! This time I realized what it was doing and checked the box first, then add the user, then hit save. It’s working as expected now. Is that how it’s supposed to react?

Anyhow thanks for the response! In good shape now.

Hello jpartin94, that is actually a bug! Good catch. So basically if the user doing enabling the “restrict” option is also listed in “can manage plugins” the user is locked out.

Thank you for reporting this, really appreciated. We will issue a fix in the next update.

Right with the order it’s in I would think I add the user and then check the box below it if I wanted that extra option and hit save. That’s why it caught me off guard. Then I just locked myself out.

I did mess around today a little bit, if either you check the box and then add the user manually OR check and uncheck the box a couple times it will automatically add the user you’re signed in as.

Maybe switch those two options space, the check box first if you want it and then if not, add the user below manually. Thanks for the responses I appreciate it, glad we could pinpoint the problem! ??

    Have a great one!

I am so glad you listed this problem & solution. I installed this morning for the first time and managed to immediately lock myself out of the plugin.

    Hello,

I can confirm that we have a fix for this which will be available with the next update of the plugin, which will be released later on this month.

Awesome! In the meantime, I was able to get things running as they should, using your solution above. A very nice plugin, by the way.
