Upgrade to 1.0.9 breaks site display

The latest upgrade completely broke the display on the front end of my site.

On static front page, header image no longer displayed at all.

The typography for the site title also no longer displayed as set (large type, arc)

Same problem with header area on internal pages.

I am using a child theme, but have not modified the front-page.php or header.php files in any way.

I have restored to previous version and everything now displays properly.
