    I really feel foolish!

I did an automated install of WordPress via my new server.

After the install, I set up WordPress and I was able to log in as the administrator.

However, the normal admin dashboard is missing. The navigation menu that should be found on the left side of the administrative area is not there.

My work area looks similar to:

    Dashboard without formatting

I don’t even have the little pictures such as the home, tools, etc.

I have re-installed through the website server… and also re-installed using the menu that I have. But nothing has changed this unformatted dashboard menu.

Can someone tell me how to get a proper administrative dashboard?

Despite the mess, that screenshot also shows some very old Dashboard styling (2 years old, at least).

Considering the age of WordPress being installed, and the problem you ran into, it’s probably best to avoid your hosting provider’s installer.

Try a manual installation instead: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Installing_WordPress

The image is not from my site.

I don’t know how to attach an image to my post.

The hot linked image is similar – not exactly like mine.

I have the most recent version of WordPress installed.

Ok, something is definitely being messed up with their installer though, so I still recommend a manual installation. (we have no control over how third-party installers like that operate)

    I deleted the previous install.

I manually FTP uploaded the most current version of WordPress.

I installed the software and entered the admin area.

I still get the unformatted dashboard.

    Any other idea?

Did you also delete the previous database and create a new one? This type of problem is typically a corrupt setting in the database.

    I deleted the previous database.

I created a new database which resulted in having to re-install the software again.

I entered the user name and password… and get the same unformatted dashboard.

I had the tech at the server company check it.

According to him… some of the security rules was interfering with the proper display.

Anyway… it is fixed – Thanks
