Write permissions issue

    Hi folks
    I’m new to wordpress and have been able to succesfully install it, and start customising my theme.

    However I am having trouble with the write permissions for adding images and editing plugins.

    In cPanel I have changed the write permissions for wp-content to 775 but I am still not able to edit these things.

    Anyone have any suggestions of what I’m doing wrong?

    Doesn’t that create a security issue? I will be setting up a site for someone else with no html/css/php knowledge, so they need to be able to upload photos without having to access the cPanel to change permissions every time. Am I missing something?

    Well I chmod through ftp…

    Theoretically, you should only have to chmod 777 one time and then it will work with 755. Some hosts/servers stink, though, so…

    I agree it is a security issue to leave it at 777.
