Product Data tabs blank and missing

  • WooCommerce version 2.6.4
    PHP Version 7.0.10
    MySQL Version 5.6.33

    PROBLEM:

    • Only 4 product data tabs show up (Inventory, Linked Products, Attributes, Advanced). General, etc are missing.
    • When clicking on the tabs, the right pane comes up blank.
    • The issue suddenly appeared without site changes.

    TROUBLESHOOTING INFO:

    • No plugins were changed or updated.
    • No themes were changed or updated.
    • No errors or problems in WC status page.
    • No errors in JavaScript console.
    • Caches purged.
    • Transients deleted.
    • Problem remains when all other plugins are deactivated.
    • Problem remains when switched to default theme.
    • Problem exists across multiple browsers and devices (tried Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Opera on Windows 10; Chrome and Dolphin on Android; Chrome, IE, and Firefox on Windows 7; Safari and Chrome on Mac OS).
    • No PHP or server errors in logs.
    • Reset login cookies and salts & keys server-side.
    • Database cleanup and optimization.
    • Inspected other plugins and features to ensure all sections and panes displayed correctly (no other issues).
    • Using a slow render test browser, I can see that the tabs actually show up at first but then get “erased” in the final render. This indicates it is an issue with styling and/or JavaScript in the plugin. However, no errors or identifiable JavaScript call causing the issue can be identified in the accompanying developer tools.

    Doing my before-posting research to see if I could find a solution, I see that several other users have reported this issue and received no resolution. There is obviously some bug in the code that is causing the problem. Hopefully, discovering that the issue is not a matter of loading but rendering (see the final troubleshooting info bullet point) can help you help me to narrow it down.

    I’m more than happy to contribute troubleshooting and try to suss it out. But I’ve hit a brick wall here. Nothing changed. The issue suddenly appeared. None of the normative steps (trying different browser, deactivating plugins & using default theme, etc) resolved anything and none of the usual troubleshooting data proved useful (no console errors, no server errors, WC status normal, etc). Others have experienced this bug as well, so it must go back to something in how WooCommerce is coded and its interaction with the hosting environment. Any help figuring this issue out would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Do you see this problem if you disable Javascript in browser settings, then load the page?

    Did you check the page source (Chrome: control-u) to see if the missing sections are in the page source, though not displaying)?

    Yes, they are in source code.

    And yes, they display with JavaScript disabled. Disabling all plugins and using the default theme does not resolve the issue however. No other plugins/backend sections are having the issue. I also tried a backup and reinstall with just core WP and WooCommerce on the default theme. The problem persisted. So the issue lies somewhere in the WC JavaScript code and its impact on rendering, at least in certain hosting environments.

    What’s particularly strange about it is that everything was working fine. Nothing got changed. Nothing changed on my host server. The issue just started appearing. And apparently it’s happened to other folks. I’m really banging my head against a wall here, especially after a clean install just replicated the error. I may have to abandon WooCommerce for another solution if it cannot be resolved.

    For the record, the tabs and panes show up fine in other sections (like Coupons). It is only on product entries that the problem presents.
