I tried to do Manual membership for otherdomain.com via the widget button.

My network has custom domains (primarydomain.com, domain1.com and otherdomain.com).
    I logged in to domain1.com.
Then I went to otherdomain.com where I had my join widget. It displays the button for users not registered on the network (where I expected it to display the Not a member of this site button).

I’m thinking this won’t work because of the cookies? I.e., otherdomain.com doesn’t know I’m logged in to the network (because it’s a different domain), so it displays the register on network button.

Or maybe there is another problem in my setup, but I’m thinking I won’t be able to use this for a network with different domains. Thanks!

Hmmm..or not. I’m having some trouble on the troubleshooting. Should it work in this scenario?

Were you logged in at the time? That is, did you see the toolbar at the top of the page?

It’s not handled by the cookies at all, it checks via PHP if the user is logged in. The only reason that wouldn’t detect is if WP itself doesn’t see you as logged in.

Ok..I see it is working on some of my mapped domains and not others. I will troubleshoot this independently. Thanks for the info!
