Database Backup Filesize Limit?

  • I have been trying recently to get my site database backup up with iThemes.

    When I click on “Create a Database Backup”, nothing happens other than I can see where the backup.lock folder is created on my server (viewed via FTP). I assume this is how iThemes keeps track of when a database is being backed up and packaged/ZIPped.

    Anyway, no backups ever show on the FTP and none go to email. I’ve tried multiple emails, one at a time, to make sure it wasn’t an email situation. None work thus far.

    My DB is about 150MB in total. Is there an upper limit for DB size in this backup functionality?

    I’ve found out why my database was so large. I also use the WordFence plugin for file scanning. For some reason the config portion of the DB for WordFence was too big, so I deleted that table and let it rebuild. Now the DB is more in line with an appropriate filesize.
