Hi, I am currently helping my friend upgrade their old website, upgrading all plugins etc and then finally upgrading to Version 4.6.1 WordPress.

There seems to be an issue with TinyMCE Advanced plugin where I cannot see all the menu items that should be viewable. I have checked the settings in the Settings/TinyMCE Advanced/Editor Settings and see what should be showing. But when I got to an actual Page different ones are showing and I can’t for the life of me fix it… We should also be seeing the VISUAL and TEXT Tabs on the right hand side, they aren’t even showing.

Currently the site has Version 4.4.1 of your plugin installed. It should at least be viewing the menu properly before I can upgrade to the newest version. I actually installed the latest version thinking that might fix the problem, but no difference so I took it back to the original version.

Not sure how to fix the issue before progressing with the rest of the plugin updates etc.

Can someone please help urgently, would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards
    Kristin

    1. Check the Toolbars Toggle button: https://www.laptoptips.ca/projects/tinymce-advanced/#toolbar-toggle.
    2. If that is toggled, refresh the browser cache and check for errors in the browser console.

HI, Sorry for delay. There is NO toggle bar I am familiar with that. Even if you look at your link, it shows both VISUAL & TEXT TABS which are NOT displaying on this site. Maybe there is an issue with this plugin. With TinyMCE Advanced Plugin, is there another plugin that works with it directly or just by itself. I mainly use Divi so am not familiar with this plugin, I assume it should have these 2 options VISUAL & TEXT TABS. I have taken over the website for a friend, so I didn’t design the site. It is strange that I can’t see the “VISUAL & TEXT TABS” at all. Basically all I see is HTML code, there are still icons like B, I, Link, img, ul, code, more, close tags and that’s it. I even went into the TinyMCE settings to look at what other options there were and added some extra icons, but NONE of them are showing on the Actual Edit page.

I’ve just looked under “Advanced Settings” for TinyMCE Advanced Plugin, and this is ticked:

IMPORT Editor-style.css – It seems your theme does not support customised styles for the editor. You can create a CSS file named editor-style.css and upload it to your theme’s directory. After that, enable this setting.

So therefore there is a problem with this theme possibly ? If so, what coding do I add into this css file listed above ?

I found some other suggestions from people editing the functions.php but that just caused the whole site to crash so avoiding that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx
    Kristin

Doesn’t sound like a problem with the theme. Some (older) themes don’t have specific editor stylesheet, but that shouldn’t break the editor.

What happens when you disable TinyMCE Advanced? Do you have Visual and Text tabs then?
    – If yes, try deleting and installing TinyMCE Advanced again.
    – If no, see if the checkbox to not use Visual editor is not checked in your profile. If that’s not the reason either, check if any of your other plugins aren’t breaking the Visual editor.

If everything else looks good, try reinstalling WordPress. You should be able to use the Visual editor before this plugin can extend it.

I am seeing this problem on a number of our websites. The Visual tab is there but is not active. This seems to have occurred with the latest version of WordPress. I have tried all the actions, even installing WordPress again, and the visual tabs are not active. Please can you investigate because this a problem other developers are having.

I have the exact same problem with Kristine.
Wordpress newest version 4.7.5 with TinyMice advanced or Site Origin or Beaver Builder.
None of them is working. I have been trying to figure out ‘why’ for 2 wks now but no avail.

No Visual/text tabs nor toggle bar

Many thanks for your help in advance.
