Permalinks – Starting to think no1 knows how to fix this problem

  • I have a problem with my site and I have been everywhere to find a solution and no one seems to have a solution. I am using WordPress 2.6.1 although I was still having this problem prior to the upgrade.

    THE PROBLEM

    All the links within my site direct you to my front page instead of the category, article or page. I understand that this is permalinks problem and I have already asked many WordPress boffins and all dont have an answer/solution to my problem.

    In the left hand sidebar on my site are links to categories within my site and if you click one you will notice that the address in the address bar changes however the page does not.

    I am now debating whether to start from scratch (which will take some time as I’d have to re-publish over 500 articles!). I am usure whether this will fix the problem or I will incur this same problem at a later date.

    If no-one has an answer to this can you put me in touch with someone who can who can advise (whether paid or free) as I feel i am clutching at straws!

    Please help!

    Ok i tried changing my theme to the default WordPress theme and the permalinks worked!

    I now know that this is a problem with the theme I am using!

    I assume that one of the php files is corrupt – any ideas which php file this would be and a possible fix?
