There are 2 boxes next to files backup & database backup that you can put numbers into it.
Do i have to choose number 1 for files backup and number 2 for database backup?

Another question is : Usually backup programs or manually, To get backup you get all the files from your ftp account to your local computer.
For restoring you put all the files back to ftp.
No need to clean wordpress installation for restoring and uploading themes, uploads, plugins separately.

?f this the situation i will not use UpdrafPlus. I need backup wordpress core files also like htcaccess.html etc. for proper restoring.

Also combining each backup themes folder, uploads folder etc into one folder to upload them to ftp is time consuming.

Why simply UpdraftPlus do not backup whole files & database backup simply?

    Hi,

The two boxes next to the backup schedule options are to set the number of scheduled and manual backup s to keep after a backup is performed. Any extra backups are deleted. These can be set to any value you need.

It is not necessary to clean the site before restoring. UpdraftPlus will remove the old files before restoring the new. We have a guide on restoring available here:
    https://updraftplus.com/faqs/restore-site-updraftplus/

The ability to backup WordPress core files is part of our paid version of the plugin UpdraftPlus Premium. More information is available on our site.
