Blog Redirect

  • Recently switched from one domain to another and seems like i forgot a step or two. Right now i have buddy press installed and recently when the admin has created a new blog posts it will show on the timeline. But when clicking the link it forwards you to the old domain name.

    Please help!!

  • Hi gwapguru, a possible cause for the old domain name links is you did not update your database to use your new domain name.

    I recommend reading the guide at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress#Changing_Your_Domain_Name_and_URLs and carefully go through the instructions to make sure you completed them. Changing the URLs in your database is included in that link after step 9 in the additional paragraphs below.

    If you do need to update your database, before you make any database adjustments, MAKE SURE you have a backup of your existing site’s database as any changes you make are permanent.
