My Homepage is now missing all the navigation aids: Search, Recent Posts, Archives, Categories, and Posts.

They show up on the About page, but are missing now from the Homepage. I have no idea why this happened, nor how to put them back on the Homepage.

I am using the Twenty Ten theme

(ALSO…I Don’t know the version; it isn’t listed at the bottom of the WP admin page to the right of Thank you fro creating with WordPress where it is supposed to be, nor do I find it in the At A Glance widget on the Dashboard. I pulled up the page source and searched for generator but the version wasn’t listed there either. I just picked 4.42 at random. I assumed I needed to select something. )
    I am a relative newbie.
    Thanks for your help.

Your widgets are appearing at the very bottom of your home page, you have to scroll quickly to see them.

It appears you have two posts outside of the container where all of your other posts are located, have you modified your theme to make use of the infinite-loading posts?

I would check the files you have modified for any missing/extra </div> tags. I generally test for this by inserting a closing div tag at various points at the bottom of modified files, refresh your site after each attempt and sometimes it will appear to fix the issue, this will lead you to an error or a typo.

If you haven’t modified any files, you can try disabling all plugins and refreshing your site, if this fixes the issue you can re-activate your plugins 1-by-1 in the hope of finding the culprit plugin.

Let me know how you get on.

Update to my topic post titled: “Navigation Sidebar for categories, topics missing”

I now find that if I pull up an individual blog post, the navigation menu items are visible in the right sidebar.

They are only missing from the Home page. But they are very much needed there.

Incidentally, from the WP Admin site, when I select “Pages”, the Home page is not listed there. Only the “About” page is listed.

I hope this helps you help me. Please let me know what other information you may need from me.

Your homepage isn’t actually a Page in this case, I believe it will be the infinite-loading configuration that is causing your sidebar to be pushed to the very bottom of the page.

On Pages, you don’t have infinity posts loading so the sidebar is appearing as normal.

I would also ask for assistance on the WP.com forums.

I have made no modifications to the site until I began fooling around with it today, after the issue occurred.
I don’t know how to write code, have not tried to write any code, and would not know where to try to insert any code.
Would I pull up page source to insert code? I would rather not try to do that as I am liable to mess things up badly.
I am hoping there is a way to fix this from the Admin page.

    Any suggestions?

Yes, try disabling all plugins as I believe it is the infinite-posts feature you’re using that is causing the issue.

This is for a WP.com website, unfortunately I know very little about that so you would get better advice on the WP.com support forums.

    Hope this helps.

Ah HA. I understand what you’re saying.
Should I create a HOME page? A page which is the first to load someone comes to the site instead of the infinite loading page?
That way I could put the navigation aids there and people could select or search from that point.

Can you direct me to a tutorial on doing that? Thanks again for your help on this.

OK. I am on the wrong forum. But you have helped me understand the problem now. I will investigate further on the .com help site.
    Thanks again Sumo

I believe the correct way is to use a standard archive like you are already doing so, if you used a Page you would then also need a Page Template that would include custom code to display your posts etc..

I don’t know how you’re implementing infinite-posts as I have never dealt with a WP.com site before, I would suspect it’s from Jetpack but I really don’t know.

WP.org and WP.com are two very different things.

    Hope this helps.
