• This is just like all the other themes. You have to install it and then redesign the whole thing to get the layout in the preview.
There is no point in having a preview, if you have to make all the changes to get the layout you want, you could do that with every other theme.
    Another pointless theme.
The sooner one of the designers of these themes actually makes one you don’t need to redesign yourself the better.

  • Hi there,

How exactly would you suggest they present a theme, so it suits everyones needs and wishes all at once?

If you do not like the way the basic Storefront theme looks and you do not want to customize it, just buy a premium theme that suits your needs?

I am sorry, but giving a free theme ( that does what it promises to do for free ) a bad review is just sad!

On the preview the basic theme has the categories in a grid layout with images on the home page. When you start to use it, it list the products in a grid layout on the home page. Sorry, but that is just stupid.

The changes to suit your own needs, such as what widgets to use and where to use them is something that needs to be done to suit your own needs, that is understandable and easy to do.

The idea it is free therefore you should not expect the home page to look like they suggest is just plain stupid.

You could use the basic theme it comes with when you install it on WordPress and get the same thing.

There is no point to this theme.

    Hi,

First of all, StoreFront is just a stand alone theme, that is highly recommended to use with the free plugin Woocommerce. So it should be clear that the theme itself will have no products in it nor will it show them in what ever way, if one does not install Woocommerce.

Complaining about a theme ( that does not claim to have standard woocommerce in it for starters ) that it does not show the products exactly as in a demo preview of one of its possibilities, tells me the complainer does not have enough knowledge about WordPress and themes in general.

Within the settings of Woocommerce, you will get options how to show your products and where. That actually is not even a StoreFront theme thing.

There are free plugins that help you control the look of your homepage: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/homepage-control/

I get your frustration, but why not give it a try. Start learning about WordPress, themes etc, you might like it!

If not, please do not give a bad review, just because you lack basic knowledge and look for a theme that meets your needs all at once. However most themes just show one or several options in their preview and its up to the buyer to start customizing. Thank god, otherwise all wordpress sites and shops would look the same haha!

It is installed with Woocommerce i am perfectly aware thst there are no products in it, i have to add them.

If I have to design it to get the home page to have the categories in a grid, rather than the products, what is the point of the theme? I could do that with any theme. There is no point in producing a theme if people then need to go and design it.

People don’t like negitive comments, but it happens. If the designers of the theme were bothered about reviews, then they would at least ask for a bit more info.

    Hi,

Sorry you still feel this way.

Just for the record, I am just a ( happy ) user of Storefront and do not take this negative review personally. I suppose I can not add anything but to wish you luck in finding the perfect theme that will instantly meet all your personal preferences! Fortunately nobody forces you to use Storefront.

Do you actually read what I say or are you just here to defend the theme designers?

At no point did I say I wanted an instant fix. The theme preview has the categories on the home page. When I use it, it has the individual products. What you seem to be saying is If I want categories on the home page instead of the products, I need to redesign the theme.

What is the point of this theme, when I ccould just as easily redesign another theme to get the same thing?

berdeencott, what preview do you refer to? Is it their demo? And on the demo shop page you see categories and products listed in the grid together?

It took me less time to google that solution than to read your complaint.

That is a WooCommerce setting, has nothing to do with Storefront.

In case you don’t want to watch the video, go here:

Woocommerce / Settings / Products / Display. The setting for “Shop page display” on your install is likely set to “show products”. Change this to either “show categories & products” or “show categories” as you see fit.

    @ Corbet: Amen!

Maybe I’m stating the obvious here, but the output you are looking for has NOTHING to do with this theme or any theme but is actually a WooCommerce setting.

You should be reviewing the WooCommerce docs https://docs.woocommerce.com/documentation/plugins/woocommerce/getting-started/ and educating yourself on the various settings built in to Woocommerce instead of posting an extremely negative review complaining about something that is actually not at all related to the theme.

In reviewing your other posts on these forums, it is clear to me that you are very new to this product (Woocommerce), therefore, you should take some time to search these forums (and the Internet for that matter) for answers to your questions which have already been answered elsewhere.

    @ Berdeen,

I absolutely read what you are saying and told you this is not theme related, it is done in the Woocommerce settings. As soon as you install Woocommerce it will have a standard setting to get you started, which you can easely change in its settings ( not in Storefront theme ).

The theme is designed by Woo commerce, yet the theme does not work with Woocommerce.

I seen the video before, but even when I followed the video, it MADE NO DIFFERENCE.

If the best you can do is go looking for info to have a go at people who don’t think the same way as you, then I am sure you would do well in government.

Well the 1 076 793 Storefront users ( me included ) must have Super Powers, because Storefront works perfectly combined with Woocommerce ?? for all of us!

berdeencott, you came here to complain and give the theme a low score… so yes, that is the best I can do for you. You might as well uninstall.

The theme works perfectly with Woocommerce. The problems you are having are not theme related. Good luck. If you need assistance, you should probably open a thread in the WOOCOMMERCE support forum and ask kindly instead of complaining.

On the other hand, perhaps others have also found the theme is just like all the rest and not said anything negitive to avoid being targeted by die hard supporters.
