Version 2.6.1 installation problems – HELP!!

  • I have been trying to get the past 2 newest versions 2.6, now 2.6.1 installed. In past, I have not had a problem doing updates till the 2.6 one. I keep reading through 18 forum PAGES about all the problems everyone is experiencing and the frustrations. I can completely understand wholeheartedly!!! What I am experiencing is after doing the installation, I CAN NOT log in to the dashboard/admin. I have to reinstall the older version 2.5.1 which I had made a backup copy in a folder on my computer.

    Can someone PLEASE help me solve this problem?

    Yep. I have the same problem.
    Unfortunately, I did not backup the database.

    I got the blog running again with a backup and the upgraded database, but I can’t log in.

    Hi Guys,

    I too had problems with installation of 2.6.1 but eventually got them sorted through the Forum.
    I think you need to give a few more details like
    what is the url you are working on ?
    what version upgrade you did ?
    what server eg windows or linux ?
    Can you access your database through a control panel ?
    Can you access the url through the host server ?

    More info helps everyone .

    lookjohn, the URL I am working on is: https://www.shirleysdelight.com/blog
    The versions I did try to upgrade to were 2.6 and 2.6.1, but had to reinstall 2.5.1 after being unsuccessful with the updates.
    Server is Windows. I contacted my host server who was unable to upgrade my blog successful because we are not able to login to my blog through admin. That is the major problem can’t login when we did the upgrades. So reason for the reinstallation of previous version 2.5.1, which I have no problems logging on. Hope you understand what is the problem about not being able to log in.
