Moderation Not Working

  • When a new user registers for my site, once they click the email they are sent, they are immediately able to post and no admin approval is required. I have the box checked “Check this option to require new users to be approved by an administrator before they may log in.” I’m also using BBPress if that makes a difference. Also, none of the emails I configured in TML are being used. Seems like the generic WordPress emails are instead. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • No suggestion, but I am having a similar problem. Main difference is that for me new users can’t login, I don’t get an admin notification, and clicking “Approve” in the users list doesn’t change their status. To approve I have to actually edit their profile and change the status.

    I am also using BBPress, so that might be the issue (?), but I have also just updated WP to 4.7.0, so could that be the problem?

    It could be either. TML hasn’t yet been marked compatible with 4.7.

    Thanks Jeff. I’ll have to try and remember to check for new registrations regularly until you have chance to confirm / fix 4.7.0 compatibility.

    If it helps I can say that apart from this issue TML seems to work perfectly in 4.7.0.

    Moderation is not working for me either. The usual login is disabled (Security) and I have activated E-Mail Opt-In.

    When I create a new user and then log in with those credentials im logged in right away, no E-Mail confirmation…
    This also happens when I try Admin confirmation.

    Theme My Login is the only plugin installed!
    I have tried with WordPress 4.5.4 and WordPress 4.7 (same result).

    Please help!

    Now checked again with latest update to TML. No change. A number of issues appear related to registrations:

    1 – If error made on register form the red error field shows but it doesn’t contain any text explaining the problem (in this case it was using an email address already used).
    2 – Once registration is accepted the user appears in WP with status “pending”, but neither the user nor admin (me) receive any emails about the registration (all spam folders checked). I have set up custom emails in TML for these.
    3 – If I go to WP users and “approve” this user the status still remains as “pending” (i.e. doesn’t change), but the user does now receive an email confirming the accepted moderated registration.
    4 – Despite receiving that email the user still cannot login as the status is still “pending”.
