• Hi,

I’m working on a localhost (XAMP).
And I succeed to install correctly the WordPress files but when I want to upload plugin and install plugins, I m not able to do it…

“Installation failed: Could not create directory.”

It’s probably because I don’t have the permission to write new files on my mac…

What should I do to solve this?

    Thanks in advance…

    Hi,

I believe you are correct about the permissions being insufficient for your site right now, would you mind having a read at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_File_Permissions which covers what they should be, as that might be all you need?

If that doesn’t solve it for you, do let us know and we’d be happy to help you further.

    Hi,

I think indeed we are close… But on mac I cannot give a value 777, I can only change the permission to users… In this case I putted it on everyone can read & write… But it still does not work… I hope u know other hints ??

    Hi,

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

We don’t recommend using 777 as permissions, so that’s not a problem.

Let’s try making things a bit sane and running XAMPP as a real user.

Edit the httpd.conf file from XAMPP (can usually be found in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/) and change the User and Group to something exists, like your own user for example.
