svg images come up as broken

I had a look, the image itself doesn’t seem to be there, check the link:

I can’t access the media library to test uploading or anything with the role the “support” account has either.

So sorry about that. I had been doing some testing and removed the file. Now they are back. I’m still running into the same issues. I will send you admin access via email.

After a bit of playing around, i think it might be something to do with the hosting.
It seems like it is forcing SVG files to be served as text/plain instead of image/svg+xml.
Is this site on a different hosting account to the other one that is working?

Here is an example:
This is the plain file loaded in browser on your server: https://staging.wfcn.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/mrbill-social-hexagon.svg
And this is the plain file loaded on a different server: https://mrbillstunes.com/wp-content/uploads/mrbill-social-hexagon.svg

You’ll see that yours loads as text and the other as the image. Additionally, if you then view page source, yours isn’t syntax highlighted like the other.
Maybe ask your hosting company if they know why that is.
It could be to do with .htaccess files.

Oh…. thanks. I am new to SVG and to .HTAaccess but am gradually working through these things.

It is hosted by GoDaddy – a company which has been very frustrating of late. I will investigate with them. Thank you for your help.

This does sound like the issue. I had no idea that godaddy did that.
Maybe you could move hosts… to GoWebben ?? (this is my company)… if you did, there is a link to $25 free credit when you visit your installed plugins page in your site, it’s a link on the SVG Support plugin.

See how you go with the .htaccess
It’s easy to break your site playing with the .htaccess files… it’s also easy to revert your changes in the same file and all will be fine, so it’s worth a try while you’re in the staging site.

Here is a clearer link so you can see where it goes, make sure to put it outside the WordPress part of the .htaccess file.

It sounds like you need to add the mime type to your .htaccess file which is found in your root folder of your WordPress installation. Make sure to add it outside the WordPress existing code there like so:
