v2.6 calendar – display future posts?

This is my last hope before I revert back to an old version of WordPress…

I run an events blog, Shake it Doll, and used to run wordpress 2.3 with the Event Calendar plugin. I’ve just upgraded to WP 2.6.2 and that plugin no longer works.

So, given this, I thought the best way to move my blog forward would be to enter my posts (providing future event details) as future posts with a date/time corresponding to that of the event. However, while I have a working plugin which enables future posts to be displayed in the index of my blog, they do not display in the default calendar widget. The default calendar widget does not display future events. Is there a way to hack WP so that they do?

P.S. I’ve looked for a future events calendar, but can’t find a plugin that works with 2.6. Likewise, I’ve looked at dedicated events calendar plugins for v 2.6, but they all appear to require that the user writes event entries, rather than linking event details to a post (as the old Event Calendar plugin did). This is unsuitable for me, as I want to use posts to detail up-coming events, and to have the dates of these events displayed in a calendar widget (so that on-click the event listings for that day are displayed in the index).
