    Hi Guys,
PayPal support pointed me to Braintree as they no longer allow Adaptive Payments. They said it is something that Braintree will be able to support.

I need to be able to split the payments made for a subscription between two different people on a per product basis.

In our shop situation we are selling a monthly subscription based on a charity the user wants to support. Each product is a different charity. And each month as the subscription is paid I need part of the payment to go directly to the charity in question.

As far as I can see this is not something your plugin supports. However if it is something that Braintree supports perhaps you can consider expanding the functionality of this plugin.

My client is happy to pay to a certain level for development. Is this something I can discuss with you?

    Hi @pcmdv,

This functionality is related to Braintree’s sub merchant account functionality. Currently only US based merchants are support for sub merchants. Are your charities based only in the US?

    Thanks,
    Clayton

    Hello @pcmdv,

I have done some research on this and I have some questions for you:

    1. Braintree only allows one sub merchant Id per transaction. That means if a user adds mutliple items to their cart that belong to different charities, several transaction calls will need to be made. This can become very tricky when calculating how the shipping will be divided between these items. Is shipping involved?

    2. Since these are subscriptions, would you rely on WC Subscriptions or the plugin’s subscription functionality?

    3. Is it only the recurring payment that is subject to the disbursement to the charity? Or are there signup fees, etc associated with the subscription?

I want to get a feel for your business scenario because if we develop this functionality, it will be so many merchants can use it.

    Kind Regards,

Thanks so much for getting back to me on this!

Our charities are mostly based in the UK so this will be a problem!

    Regarding your questions above:

    1. The whole site is only selling one product ie to subscribe to the website. We are creating individual products to differentiate between the charities they wish to support. So there will never be a situation where there are multiple items in the basket that need various split payments.

    2. Yes I was planning to rely on Woocommerce subscriptions to manage the recurring subscription

    4. All the payments will need to be split. There are no additional sign up fees. The first transaction to start the subscription and each subsequent monthly subscription payment will be split exactly the same.

This seems to be something that is considered for marketplace situations. But in an ideal world I don’t want to have to set up the actual marketplace to enable split payments. Is there any kind of timeline for bringing split payments to the UK market?

    Thanks for you support!
