Send To shortcode for User Password Changed

Thanks for your message.

By default, without BNFW installed, the User Password Changed notification is only sent to the WordPress Admin (the email address defined in Settings > General).
When BNFW is installed, it extends this functionality to allow you to edit this notification whilst also choosing who to send it to but this is limited to User Roles, or individual users only.

It seems like by default WP sends an email to the user’s (email) to let them know their password was changed, not the site’s admin. Part of the default message is:

This notice confirms that your password was changed on WEBSITE NAME.

You’re right. I missed this in my tested – one half of the notification has been implement but not the transactional, user notification.

I’ve added this to my to-do list to look at when I’m back from the Christmas break, in the New Year.

Can’t you just use the “User Password Changed” notification but set the recipient to be ‘subscribers’

Then it gets sent to the users themselves, when they change their passwords.

It seems to work for me. Or have I misunderstood something?

The above is regarding a bug where the User Password Changed notification isn’t quite working correctly.

By doing what you suggested, you’d be sending it to all users in the ‘Subscriber’ user role whenever a single user changes their password.
This will be fixed in the next version.

That’s really strange.

I understand theoretically that’s how it *should* work.

But I’ve set it up exactly like that and it ONLY sends to the user who changed their password. Not to any other subscriber.

Any idea what’s going on?

In that case, the bug is *slightly* larger than I thought.
It should be a transactional notification with no Sent To settings. Additionally, the Admin notification needs to be instated. Again, this should be fixed in the next version.

Right, that’s what I guessed.

It should be in the “Transactional” category and disallow choosing recipients.

But it’s been placed in the “WordPress defaults” category instead, and allows recipients.

It’s also the same with the “User Email Changed” notification. I’ve set it to send to Subscribers, but it only sends to the actual user who changed their email address, as if it was a transactional mail.

So I guess the categories have just got a bit muddled up, but it does exactly what I actually wanted (send only to the relavant user), so no complaints from me!

Anyway, thanks again for this wonderful product, and looking forward to the next version!

Correct. For the function I am looking for, there should be no option to change the TO address. It would be to the address assigned to the user who changed their password. This is how WP functions out of the box (when a used manually changes their password). I am looking for a way to customize this message to the user in the dashboard without hard coding it. Thanks

I’ve upgraded to the latest version.

The “user email changed – for user” is now in the transactional category, which is good.

But there are still ‘Send To’ options that are selectable, which is not good.

There shouldn’t be any options here, because it is only supposed to be sent to the one specific user.

Please have a look at this screenshot I just took and tell me if I’ve done something wrong or misunderstood.

@meadows19 I agree. There shouldn’t be a send to here. It should be hard coded to the email address of the user who is changing their password. I could see maybe an option to CC or BCC an admin, but the main To: shouldn’t have an option for this feature. Thanks.
