    hi tobias,
my problem is on the site https://www.obstbaumpflege-fortbildung.de/mit-erfolg-bestanden/

the table was too big and went over the right border, happily i could get rid of this issue by adding your responsive tables extension to the plugin but unfortunately there is always this left white space where a sidebar can be but i think it has something to do with tablepress because this issue is appearing only on sites where this shortcode is added.

yes, it is not a big deal, and with the extension it looks quite nice already but i’m interested in why this is happening.

    Hi David,

thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

Do you mean the large white-space on the left and right side of the table (and the text above the table)? This is actually coming from your theme, which uses a rather narrow content area. You could check if your theme has a “Full width” page template (on the “Edit” screen of that page). Alternatively, you’d have to either modify the theme’s CSS code or find a theme with a bigger content area.

yes i mean the white spaces around the content area. curious is, that every other site with the same standart template is working fine, without those spaces. it starts when i add a table shortcode into the site.

when i deactivate the expansion plugin, the right space is filled with the table, it’s even going beyond the border of the content area but that was what i was going to fix initially.

however the content area is fine in every other site with the same standart template, there is also a showcase template and a sidebar template alternativly, both even worse looking.

we can leave this topic as solved now i guess

    Hi,

the reason for this difference is that the page with the table really is a WordPress “page” (in addition, it’s a page with the “Default” page template), whereas most other pages are actually “posts” internally.
Your Impressum page (in the Kontakt menu) is another example for a “page” with the “Default” page template. Those don’t have a sidebar and they have a smaller content area.

The small content area is too small for the full table to fit. That’s why it was overlapping on the right, which you stopped by using the Extension.

The best way to make the table wider again would be to choose a theme with a wider content area for the “Default” page template of “pages”.

    Regards,
    Tobias
