    Hello.

After the last (?) update all i see in the cache directory is empty folders with no files. I have some 1000 directories with some 4-5 html files inside.

Apparently cache is not working well. Used to work just fine. Changed nothing recently.

Also, does Clear Cache removes the directories ?

@massimod can you confirm which version of Comet Cache you are running? Also, you’re referring to the Lite version, correct?

Apparently cache is not working well.

Please see How do I know if Comet Cache is working?

does Clear Cache removes the directories ?

Yes, the Clear Cache button removes the cache files as well as the directories generated by Comet Cache inside wp-content/cache/comet-cache/cache/.

I run WP 3.6.1, Comet Cache Lite v161221

And clearing cache doesn’t remove folders for me. No errors or debug error, totally clear.

    Not sure what happened.

If you enable debugging and try clearing the cache, do you see any errors? https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Debugging_in_WordPress

Sorry, I missed that you said there were no debug errors.

Comet Cache Lite v161221 is working fine in all of the environments that I’ve tested it in. Is it possible to setup another WordPress site on your server and try installing Comet Cache there to rule out any plugin conflicts? See https://cometcache.com/kb-article/testing-comet-cache-in-a-clean-wordpress-installation/

Well clear cache removes files INSIDE the folders and leaves empty folders.

I will try my dev system and update here.

Ok, my dev system (online). No plugins, nothing.

Directories definitely ARE NOT removed, files are. Directories are 755, so ….

@massimod I just ran the latest version of Comet Cache Lite through another test (on WP 4.7, PHP 7) and when I hit “Clear Cache”, all of the directories in wp-content/cache/comet-cache/cache/http/example-com/ were deleted. Nothing changed in the latest version related to how the cache is cleared.

Have you tried installing an old version of Comet Cache and checking if you still have this issue? Also, which version of PHP are you running?

I will do some more tests. I run PHP 7.0.13.

Also removing Comet Cache DID clear all directories, so it is kinda strange.

I will install an older version and see how it goes.

Tried comet-cache.160917 and comet-cache.160706 and same problem. Directories are still there.

Also i tried PHP 5.6 just in case. Same.

@massimod So it sounds like this is a permissions issue or something related to your hosting environment. You’ll need to check with your web hosting company to figure out what might be going on.

Nop, no issues with hosting. Just installed an other caching plugin and clearing is removing everything.

In any case, others reading this could make a test and let us know.

    Thanks.

I see i’m not the only one with this problem:

    https://forums.wpsharks.com/t/cache-folders-not-removed-during-clean-up-process/866/6

and i’m pretty sure many others also have this but they don’t know it.

@massimod We have had exactly 2 reports of this issue out of 50,000+ active installs. We’ve run tests on dozens of different hosting environments and we have not been able to reproduce the issue described.

Until we can reproduce the issue, we cannot confirm that there is a bug.

If you’d like to give us temporary access to a test installation on your server, I’d be happy to run a few additional tests. (Please open a support ticket to provide details privately and please reference this support thread.)

I’m not a paid customer, if that is ok, i can provide you via support ticket whatever is needed.
