• I installed a website in the root directory (directly under /public_html). Then I moved the website to a subfolder as directed by https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory.
I have some links to pdf that you can download. All pdfs are in /wp-content/uploads/xxxx/. After I moved the website, the links are not working anymore, because they are still pointing to the root. I think is some config that is wrong in my installation and that I need to correct before moving the site.

    any clues?

    thank you.

  • Are those links residing inside post content? If so you’ll need to either change those manually or perform a search-and-replace on your database with a tool like search-replace-DB (https://github.com/interconnectit/Search-Replace-DB). The latter is recommended only if you know what you’re doing and can test it on a local install first to make sure it won’t break anything.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the answer.

I’m using Avada theme and the element is a button with the button URL as /wp-content/uploads/2016/12/example.pdf. So, yes, you can say that the link is inside the post content (page actually, not post)

    thanks.
