Is anyone aware of a plugin to provide advance permissions to wordpress on a per user basis.

ie set it so certain “administrators” could not access say the plugins menu, or control permissions on categorys, so user A can read stuff in Category A, but only edit stuff in Category B, and only change the categories for posts already in Category C for example.

  • No, I don’t think there is anything that sophisticated.
The only known plugin is Role Manager that can customize the roles and capabilities to a certain extent.

Well I looked at the Role Manager, and I’m thinking if I could find a way to give users diffrent roles in diffrent categories it would work, alternatively I use it in a WPMU environment with separate blogs instead of categories and that would work too.

    Thanks for your help.

EDIT: Actually I managed to find linked from some codex page Role Manager linked me to for help, another plugin which from its description sounds like it would be an even better match for what I am trying to do, https://agapetry.net/news/introducing-role-scoper/
