[Plugin: AdSense Manager] White Space But No Ads

  • I’m having a problem with AdSense Manager (version 3.2.13) that’s driving me nuts.

    Instead of showing any ads, all it does is show white space the size of the ads. Actually, it’s maybe half the height of what the ad should be but the same width. If I change the ad size, the size of the white space changes. If I deactivate the plugin, the white space goes away. So, when the plugin is activated, it is obviously doing something to knock out space for the ads, but never displaying an ad.

    I have AdSense Manager on other plugs, using the same theme and such, and it works fine. I even copied theme pages and code from working sites to the non-working blog, and the same result: white space, no ads. I compared all the settings, and the settings on the problem blog match the settings on the working blogs; the only difference is the channel ID, and I’ve checked and double-checked to make sure that’s right.

    I’ve run out of ideas what to look for or try. I have AdSense Manager working just fine on a number of other blogs, and I can’t find anything that would be incorrect or set wrong.

    I even tried deactivating and deleting the plugin (and deleting the database it created) and re-uploading a fresh copy and activating that. Same result: white space, no ads.

    The only other idea I had was to just delete the whole blog and start over, but I’d prefer not to do that, especially since I don’t know for sure that that would even resolve the problem.

    Any ideas?

    Have you tried contacting Adsense support or checking their troubleshooting help.

    I had a similar problem. For my home page (which had multiple posts with ads at the end of each), the sidebar had white space in place of the ad, and the ad above the footer was missing, too; the ads below the posts were displayed, however. When I looked at the source code, I saw that all the JavaScripts were there, so I knew that it wasn’t that the codes were missing. I noticed, however, that when I looked at a particular blog page, the ads in the sidebar and above the footer showed up.

    I suspected that the total number of ads may be the problem, so I changed the “Blog pages show at most” setting down to 2 and voila! The sidebar and footer ads appeared.

    I later googled and found that three is the maximum number of AdSense for Content ad units for a page (see this article), which corresponds to the behavior I was seeing.
