• My client would like to have a “design your T-Shirt” type of functionality in woocommerce. Has anyone ever heard of a woocommerce site with this capability (obviously leveraging lots of custom code)?

The idea would be that after selecting the T-Shirt product, you would be guided through a process of:

    • uploading an image
    • cropping the image
    • adding some text, selecting a font

You can see an example of this at https://www.stickeryou.com/2/stickermaker/create/1/1/ or https://www.customink.com/lab?PK=04600

Am I totally deluded in thinking this could be done with a customized woocommerce? Should I be considering completely different solutions? Will I just be thrown to the wolves, left to code this type of thing in completely custom PHP without benefitting from an off-the-shelf shopping cart solution?

  • Canton, I’m here to tell you that you are in fact… not crazy!
    Fancy Product Designer
    WooCommerce Products Designer
While I can’t vouch for these examples I gave you, they are there, which means it has been done.
From what I could tell these allow for a good amount of client interaction for their finished product.

As far as going from scratch or not, I think this would really be solely on whether you a) have time or b) like the freedom to update and edit everything on your own. So it seems that would be the million dollar question.

You’ll need JavaScript for an in-browser application. I don’t see why it can’t link to WooCommerce as that’s open-source and well-documented. Try posting a job:

Competition is fierce, and of course you don’t have to accept any bid.
