    Hi,

last month I have changed my service provider and moved my site.

I’ve recently noticed that even if I receive everyday an email saying that the backup was successfully completed, only 4 files: db, others, plugins, themes, are really completed.

The last one “uploads” is always only partially uploaded to Dropbox. In fact its size is smaller than usual and if I try to open it, winrar says that the zip file is corrupted.

Is there a way to fix this problem? I have already tried to uninstall the plugin and re-authenticate in dropbox.

    Many thanks in advance.

    UPDATE

I have contacted the customer support of my service provider (Siteground.com): they don’t see any problems from their side and ask if maybe the plugin needs a specific PHP variable to be set.

Please let me know what you think about it.

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

PLease could you send us a copy of the latest backup log? This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.

The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Hi,

Could you take a test backup of the Uploads, but not send it to Dropbox?
If you download this backup file, are you able to unzip it successfully?

    Hi,

I just made a test backup on the web server space, without sending it to dropbox, and downloaded the files to my PC.

The files have the correct size and are not corrupted.

The problem seems to be in their transfer from Siteground servers to Dropbox (the account is completely empty).

I have already tried to reinstall updraft and authenticate it again with Dropbox, but with no result. Any idea how to fix this?

    Tnx

DNutbourne I have been contacted by the Siteground support,

they indeed confirm that the backup files are correctly generated on their server but for some reason, the files are only partially uploaded to Dropbox, resulting in undersized and corrupted archives.

They think it COULD be a problem with the plugin.

(It also does not check the filesize of the original and the destination files, resulting in a false “backup successfully completed”)

Please let me know what you think. Tnx

    Hi,

    Apologies for the delay.

Could I just check home you are checking the size of the files in Dropbox? Are you using https://www.dropbox.com, or a app?

Would it be possible to send us login details to the site, so we can test directly?
If so, the best way is probably through our pre-sales form. Could you send the details through that form, and as for it to be assigned to David Nutbourne?

    Hi DNutbourne,

I am using dropbox.com and downloading the files directly from their repository.
I check the files locally. The same did the Siteground senior staff and they had the same problem. The file is correctly created on their servers but for some reason it gets corrupted during the transfer to Dropbox.

They have also tried another backup plugin that uses dropbox and it worked fine. It seems to be a Updraft issue when connecting to Dropbox.

Please don’t ask me to give away the site credentials. It seems that a senior technician of SG, Ivan Yordanov, is reading this, please ask him.

    Many thanks.

    Hi,

If possible, please could you try authenticating with a different Dropbox account, and attempting a backup? Is the issue the same?

I have the exact same pb with dropbox.

zip on server is correct, transfer to dropbox does not work, file is smaller and corrupted and yet updraftplus report the file is correctly uploaded.

I guess It happens since the implementation of API version 2 with OAuth v2 token

one out of 4 uploads is corrupted (i run updraftplus on about 50 sites)

not error message whatsoever in the logs.

    hope you find a fix.

This leads me to suspect that the problem could be widespread, since many (I am one of them) usually don’t check the archives.

A solution to corrupted files could be for Updraft to compare the filesize of the original backup files with that of the copies before sending the “all right” message.

    i’ve had 3 backups done today, 2 were corrupted…

    Hi DNutbourne,

I have tried to authenticate updraft with another Dropbox account but the result is the same: the archive files are only partially uploaded and for this reason some of them get corrupted in the process.

I have also tried to change the repository, switching from Dropbox to Google Drive and it seems to work quite well: my first attempt was a success and the files uploaded correctly.
