• I’m using the plugin “Edit Author Slug” which allows me to change the /author/ slug to something else.

When using SEO Framework, the title tag on author’s pages is always “Untitled”. When I disable your plugin, it works.

So how can I fix this? Or if there isn’t a specific fix for this plugin, is there a way for me to override the title tag set by SEO Framework? (I’d check if it’s an author page, and override it myself).

    Thanks
    Shaun

    Hi Shaun,

The SEO Framework uses WordPress’ functionality to determine whether the page is for the author, from there it should be able to detect the author’s name, and therefore will be able to generate the title.

The fact that it returns Untitled means that this query can no longer be performed. I’ll test the plugin out myself and I will report back with the results.

    Cheers!

    Hi Shaun,

I just tested out the EAS plugin, and my results yield inconclusive: the title was outputted correctly (see https://testmijnphp7.nl/customauthorslug/sybrew-2/).

Which WordPress and The SEO Frameork versions are you using?

    Cheers!

I’m not sure what it is, I tried disabling all plugins except those 2, and changing the theme to Twenty Twelve, and it still said “Untitled” yet when I try it on a fresh install it works.

WordPress 4.7.1 and SEO Framework 2.7.3

Is there another way I can override the title myself?

    Hi Shaun,

I’d suggest resetting the permalink structure, this can be done by going to the following admin URL and simply hit “Save Changes”:

    /wp-admin/options-permalink.php

Alternatively, you could try using the Title Fix extension located inside The SEO Framework – Extension Manager.

If that doesn’t work, please contact the plugin author of EAS, referring back to this topic.
I’m afraid a manual override won’t yield expected results – because the Author ID can’t be correctly initiated.

    Best of luck!
