• After updating the theme I was using, overwriting my customization’s and losing the custom templates I’d created (well ok, I didn’t lose them entirely, I always keep local copies of everything) I remembered all the articles about why you should use Child Themes.
I tried creating one myself, but the preview showed I’d lost all the formatting and I wasn’t confident it would work properly anyway.

Then I found the Child Them Configurator.
Installed it and within minutes I had exactly what I needed, with the proper stylesheets and dependencies working.

Of course like anything you should make good backups before you try this, and read the documentation carefully. That said it was very easy to use and worked perfectly. I’d highly recommend this to anyone wanting to create Child Themes.
