Exit Intent shown multiple times after closing

I use the exit intent, “Show Popup” option is set to 1 month. It’s set to soft.

Testing out the website I noticed that new visitors get the popup multiple times after exiting the popup.

So for example visitor is in home page, takes curso off the page, popup shows. All is ok until here. But if visitor keeps navigating in website, opening new pages, etc., the popup will show up again as soon as he/she takes the curso off the page. This should not happen as the same popup had already been shown and exited before. This continues to happen a couple more times… sometimes just one more time, others 3.. 4… 5 or more times. It’s not a continuous behaviour.

Website caches (static, redis, opcache, etc..) and browser caches deleted multiple times to try to figure out if this was a cache problem, but it is not.
