    Hello
Great plugin. Just starting. The RSVP confirmation form seems to imply that the input has not been accepted. It looks just like the original. And people, including me the first time, resubmit. Is there a place to edit?

Also, using Mailchimp lists. Is there a way to pickup the addressees name & email and populate the fields in the RSVP form? Or in the email body?

    Thanks

The information submitted is echoed back in the form so that users can make corrections. You can include some language in your confirmation message to that effect. I understand your point and will think about how the flow might change in the future.

Re: MailChimp, you can use any of the MailChimp merge codes to personalize your content. The link on the standard RSVPMaker button actually includes a MailChimp placeholder for email address, as a way of getting a personalized signal about who is replying.

    The codes are listed here.

Thanks for the reply. I’m aware of the merge codes in Mailchimp and how to pass those in the link but what are the codes or proper syntax to the fields in rsvp maker?

You do not use MailChimp to send confirmation messages. Typically, you use it to send invitations. If you get people to your site by other means, you can also use the RSVP form to build your MailChimp list (with an “add me to your list” checkbox).

RSVPMaker sends transactional messages such as confirmation messages to the attendee using its own built-in mailer. You can use the same html email formatting template that you would for a MailChimp broadcast, or you can create a separate one that you designate to be used for confirmation messages etc.

Currently, you can add a custom note to the top of the confirmation message, but there is no mechanism for customizing the rest of that content. It just echoes back the data provided by the user in a fieldname: value format.

If you tell me how you think it should work (or have the skills to code up your own solution), I’ll consider changing that.

    Good Morning David

Sorry for confusion on my question. Let me start again on the MailChimp part.
I have an ‘open’ site, no logins at all. We’re sending our event notices using lists in MailChimp. My question is this: how to I populate the Names & email fields of the RSVP form when the user clicks to RSVP. Since I knew that info can come out of MailChimp I was looking for the codes or whatever to place that merge info into the appropriate rsvp form fields. Hope this is more clear.

If I can impose one last time. In your doc you have the following: RSVPMaker has actually included features designed to work with MailChimp for years, such as encoding on the RSVP Now! button that is replaced with the recipient’s email address when a message is sent.

My question is how to retrieve this info to use in RSVPMailer?

    Thank you

RSVP doesn’t fetch much info from MailChimp, other than the names and IDs of the mailing lists in your account.

The coding on the RSVP Now! button link is submitted as part of the HTML transmitted to MailChimp. MailChimp does the work of substituting the email address of each recipient on your list in place of the *|EMAIL|* placeholder. MailChimp does all the work.

The only other way RSVPMaker pulls in info that I can think of is an “Extract Addresses” utility that can be used to check whether addresses are already included on your MailChimp list.
