Menu not appearing in header

Hi,

I think this plugin is going to work great for making a nice responsive menu that I can configure appropriately. However, I think I am missing something basic in the configuration.

I want to use the single menu option with your header bar. I believe I have the appropriate configuration choices made. The header bar appears with the logo I have specified. However the menu appears on the top of the page and is hidden behind the header bar.

Am I inserting the short code in the wrong spot in my child theme header.php?
