Error on Activation (and Plugin Automatically Gets Deactivated)

That sucks ??

1. Do you have any error logs available on your server?
2. Check your .htaccess file – it may have some lines added by the plugin still there, marked clearly between comments – am working to improve this occasional outcome

1. I’ve PHP error logs on, but there was no entry related to plugin in the file (I can confidently say this because I know a bit of PHP and have been tinkering around with WP from the past 2 years)

2. Yes, the rewrite rules by the plugin is present. However, since when I click on “Activate”, it shows the error and gets deactivated, when I click on “activate” again, the same happens, the rules gets repeated, I mean if I click on activate twice, there are 2 blocks of same rewrite rules one after the other.

What I tried:

1. Deleted all those rewrite rules of the plugin (the plugin was already automatically deactivated as I said).
2. Checked the php error logs, no errors found about the plugin.
3. Tried activating the plugin again after removing those rewrite rules of the plugin, but still encountering the same error.

One thing that I forgot to tell you is, the site has SSL installed, and hence running on https.

So, is this the issue?

Also, it would be awesome if the plugin had sort of a “Purge Cache” link instead of having to deactivate and reactivate it again just for purging the cache.

I have a client running https so will test on there and reply, though I thought I’d made it compatible with a secure connection!

WP Roids DOES work on HTTPS

2. CloudFlare Flexible SSL
3. Favorites
4. Imagify
5. Jetpack
6. Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions
7. Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin
8. UpdraftPlus
9. WP-PostViews
10. WPForms Lite
11. Yoast SEO

Besides these, I’ve site-specific simple custom plugin that I’ve wrote just for some basic functionality that I needed on that site. The plugin runs only on backend, i.e. there’s no frontend use of the plugin. To check whether this custom plugin is causing the issue or not, I deactivated it, and tried activating WP Roids, but the problem still persists.

I’m noticing the same on my site also using SSL, but when I activate it I get the following error:

The plugin generated 148 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.

The error on activation doesn’t appears anymore, but the plugin still gets deactivated automatically as soon as a page is viewed on frontend (logged out) after activating the plugin.

Hmmm, will keep testing. I haven’t tried against all plugins yet…

I have tested tonight’s release (1.3.5) against:

• CloudFlare Flexible SSL
• Jetpack
• Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions
• Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin
• Yoast SEO

All these are okay

WordFence is an issue still

The problem still persists (plugin automatically gets deactivated when the website is viewed once from the frontend).

BTW. I’m not using WordFence plugin.

Though, I’ve installed 2 more plugins on my site:
1. Header and Footer
2. Really Simple SSL
…in addition to all the plugins that I have listed down before.

I may have determined the deactivation issue, it was to do with checking permissions on .htaccess
