Question about plugin

Developers got seriously tired of this plugin.

What is “select a link in the editor” ?

What do you mean, “Developers got seriously tired of this plugin.”

I mean, if I have added text to the editor and then use the WP editor to add a link to that text, if I double click the text I will select the link.

But I think that doesn’t matter because I believe after looking more closely at this plugin that it does not let you add shortcodes around existing content in the editor, or am I wrong.

I meant first enthusiasm went as a punctured balloon.
Dont know reason, can only guess. Maybe some intern core thing, if they hoped it will be included in core fast. But went not this way. Just wild guessing. That there is no much activity in this project in last months is not guessing, it is visible.

Seems as it is not possible for now. To click on selected/marked text and open shortcode modal. Only if content/text is inserted with shortcode modal in the first place.

I need to build custom shortcodes, a lot of them, for a specific project I’m working on in my spare time and I’m looking for a tool that will let me do this. I also looked at shortcodes ultimate, it’s very popular and does a really good job but it seems as though nothing is happening with it as well. Hasn’t been updated in a long time and it seems that the forum is pretty much ignored by the developer there as well.

My advice is to use Shortcake.

And second advice. Tips, tutorials and snippets are so spread on Net you better make your own collection on localhost, or Gist Github. Without it plenty of time goes on searching Google. Very much time indeed.
