    Hello-
I’m new to WordPress, our previous webmaster having installed v. 2.2. I just finished upgrading to 2.6.6, and though everything else seems OK, the dashboard is missing the Display choice. I would like to change the text content of my blog header but with the Design option missing, I don’t seem to have that option.

I might also add that I’m not sure if the Display option was there before the upgrade.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dana

  • What is the “Display” option? Design – yes, there is, but I can’t remember a “display” option in the past 4 years or so…

Are you sure you are logged in as the main admin?

Oh sorry. Design is what I’m missing. Sorry for the confusion.

How do I find out if there is a main admin? I’m signed on as the site owner, but the administrator may have been the previous webmaster (who’s basically no longer available).

I was just on the main blog page and clicked on “Site Admin” which took me to the dashboard. I’m still missing the Design link.
    Thanks,
    Dana

    There are only 2 options:
    – the upgrade wasn’t complete
    – you are not logged in as admin

If you log out do you have to login with “admin” as user + pw?

No. I log in with the user name of the site owner. I entered “admin” in the login screen with no password, and it said incorrect password. So I guess there is an admin user id (since it didn’t say no such id).

Is there any way to recover the password without having access to the person’s emails? I guess I may have to email her and then ask to recover the password. Hopefully, she’ll send me the system response.
    Thanks,
    Dana

    Hi again-
I emailed the previous person then asked WP for a new password. The response was that there’s no user id “admin”. So. . . perhaps the upgrade didn’t work correctly??
    Thanks,

Thanks for your help. It was an admin login problem. I went into the database using phpMyAdmin and found the admin id. Then I asked for a new password. Logging in with the admin id, I now have the Design option.
    Thanks again,
    Dana

The thing is it works everytime I use the request password option and get back, but that’s a shitty way of working it for me. Can someone please tell me how to fix this, I have been trying this for 2 days and today I spent 3 hours non stop trying to locate. None of the solutions seemed to work.
