requiring a login for each employee to the website

Hi, I created a website for our company employees. I put it in a password restricted directory on the web host server, so employees all use one username and password to access it. i wanted to change it so each employee has their own username and password and then be able to track which employees access the website and when. is this possible with a plugin or some other way? thanks.
