    Hi there.

Does any one know how I can adjust the settings of the Social Media links in the footer section so my Facebook or Pinterest page will open in a new window instead of opening in the same window causing the visitor to leave my website?

  • Sure, I do.

    Please visit yoursite.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php.

Click on the “Screen Options” dropdown menu that is available besides “Help” dropdown. Both are available just below the admin bar, just below the text “Howdy YourName”.

Now, you’d see a bunch of options some of which are already selected. Please select “Link target” under the header “Show advanced menu properties”.

From there, please select the menu that includes the social media links. Click on *each* menu item (i.e. link) and look for the option named “Open link in a new tab”. Select it and repeat the process for each menu item.

Finally, click “Save Menu” and reload the home page to check if the links open in the new window or tab.

    I hope that helps.
