i did search and found in the past you could uncheck use visual editor in the user profile – but this option is not shown anymore?

  • Look under Users->Your Profile for Use the visual editor when writing.

I’m new to WordPress and have 2.8.4 installed. In my user profile there is no Use the visual editor when writing option. There appears to be no way to disable it. Is my installation messed up? Has disabling the WYSIWYG editor been removed?

I read somewhere that you could disable it by removing the wp-includes/js/tinymce directory, but that didn’t work either.

I really want to turn this thing off, if anyone can tell me how I’d really appreciate it, thanks!

I think my installation was messed up. I uninstalled then reinstalled, now the option to disable the visual editor is showing in my User profile.
