Depending on your level of technical expertise, you may be able to use a function that I wrote to populate a marquee on our own signage system. It has the SQL to pull a list of meetings based on a start and end offset from the current time.

Well, I hate to admit defeat…I am not a programmer, however I can modify PHP, HTML if need be. I am stumped with creating a PHP script that can read the SQL function, and come up with any results….sighhhh. I realize you do this out of the goodness of you heart, if you by chance have the time to offer up a php script I could load up on my server the display just the days meetings, with no other headers, or fluff, it would be greatly appreciated…If not, I am good with that and very much appreciate the work you have already put into this project.

PS, I got stuck at the mysql_go(); function with an error and I had to remove the “protected” from the function call on line one…like I said, I am not a programmer.

I wrote a digital signage program for our own library years ago, but it’s web-based and quite simple. I took a look at Xibo and love it! I am most definitely going to add some support.

That being said, I’ve already created a pretty simple vertical scroller as a test. It’s pulling directly from the meetings database, and can be modified pretty easily to work for any installation (I hope).

You make an area in a Xibo layout and point it to the URL and this page just displays a rolling scroll (ignore the error at the bottom, it’s a test box).

(It’s set to work at 1080 height)

I’m still at home, but will be at work soon and I’ll send you some source.

Sweet…that is awesome, exactly what I am looking for…in the mean time, I have been getting through some of the previous code, made it through and corrected several thinsg to get it working on my system I figured out mysql_go() was your function to connect the database. what do you use for the output of the function? ahh, nevermind, I will wait to see your php code…Thanks again.

Try adding this file to your Xobi folder (if it’s running on your WordPress site), configure it and then run it by itself.

It should look like this:

If so, you can add that to a area as a website in Xobi.

That should work…can you supply me with the source code, so I can try it with my set up?

So close, but yet so far. Apparently I am not getting the data from the database. I have the correct credentials. I know because I change them and run the script, I get “No Meetings Scheduled at this time” When I have the proper credentials, I get the scrolling message Upcoming meetings.

I put in a couple of variables so I could see what was happening and maybe help me get pointed int he right direction. I tried the same set up on my local computer using XAMPP and had the exact same results. Maybe I don;t have Book a Room set up properly in wordpress, however, the evens show up; https://noelschroeder.com/event-calendar/

Admittedly I know I don;t have the event reservation page set up right yet, but I am getting closer to figuring that out.

FYI, this is just my test site, once I get it figured out, I will go live at our church.

Awesome…thanks, much better. Thanks so much. I will play around with a little to see if I can eliminate some of the white space, while it scrolls…and may try to figure out how to get it to stop, at the top of the page for a few seconds, like the other script.

This one adds a little pause. It’s changeable in the line (113):

setInterval(passStartMarquee, 600 );

Change the 600 to speed up or slow down the pause.
