Text widgets randomly disappear

Hi,

Did you end up resolving this issue or finding out what happen?

I’ve recently experienced an issue like this and can’t find any reason for this happening.

For example, we upgraded WordPress from 4.4.2 to 4.7.3, after more than a week, I was reviewing the site and didn’t see any of my Widgets showing up, just a blank side bar or footer of the page.

When I logged in, Appearance > Widgets had all the instances of the widgets, but the “Text” widgets were all gone, the Image widgets were still there.

I ended up finding a local copy of the website and re-created all the Text Widgets but I don’t know what happen and need to update the owner of the website.

I’m wondering if the two of you would mind sharing a list of the plugins that you have installed.

We have experienced the same issue with a few of our sites and we’re trying to find a common reason for why it’s happening. We have over 250 WordPress sites and it’s only happening to a few (so far).

We would like to see if our sites share any characteristics with yours.

Image Widget was my first thought for the list that this website has, however, it doesn’t seem to affect Text widgets, only Image. I suspect that it could be something with WordPress’ core files as I upgrades from an old version to a newer version around this time.
