using Chinese character with woocommerce

    woocommerce 2.6.14
    I can’t save fields with chinese characters with woocommerce plugin. The characters get garbled in database. Playing around with different char encoding/collation (utf8/utf8mb4,utf8mb4_unicode_ci/utf8_general__ci) doesn’t seems to help.
    The rest of the wordpress site seems to works fine with chinese characters though.
    Can anyone please give out some pointers in this issue?
