Bring data from a database into a page?

Hi All

I use a wordpress site to show links to other travel sites. I am currently just copying and pasting the relevant links into a page.

Anyway – I was wondering, if there away say, if I create a new MQSQl databse or even add a new table to the wordpress one, to auto populate a page by a certain field.

An example, the table will probably have columns:

index, url, description, tag

To be formatted in 1 line on the page with the key being the tag as I can then bring into the page anything with the same thing in the tag field eg anything with africa as a tag, gets populated into the africa page.

As I am no good with sql queries, is this possible as in the past when I have had a go, and not in wordpress just php pages, I can never get the url field to auto hyperlink. BuUt as not looked at it for years forgot what i did.

Any advice appreciated.
