Place the 4 newest posts from 4 categories

Is there a way to post the four newest posts from four different categories on my front page?

The site I want to make will have four different authors and I want to give all of them front page exposure, even if one lags behind the other in posts. So the end result is each author has their newest post on the front page for everyone to read.

Any help would be appreciated.
