My overall experience with IgnitionDeck is positive.

I wanted to create a whitelabel crowdfunding platform and as I didn’t know whether it would be successful or not I didn’t want to spend much money on it.
So this is what I was looking for:
    – a reasonably priced cloud-based whitelabel platform
    – classical crowdfunding functionality
    – a decent design

Actually there are lots of solutions that offer two of the above mentioned points but I found only one that offers all three: it is ignitiondeck. There might be others but I couldn’t find them. So I made the decision in favour of the IgnitionDeck Enterprise solution.

Generally I am satisfied with it. It allows some customisation without any coding knowledge and more customisation if you have coding experience. The problem with deep customisations is that it will be very difficult to keep them once you update the solution (I don’t update it any more). But actually this is not customisation rather alteration of the code.

I had to integrate a local payment platform, which turned out to be quite difficult. My programmer was not satisfied with the quality of the initial coding. But this is not a problem if you can use PayPal or other solutions already built in.

The support team should be mentioned separately as it is excellent. To some extent it even goes beyond what it actually should do being quite customer-oriented and doing an extra mile for the customer.

To do the summarising: there are some problems and difficulties with the Enterprise solution but actually it was the solution that met my criteria. And if you ask me whether I would buy it again if I did it now I would say Yes.

So if you are a start-up and just want to test your idea and don’t want to spend much money this solution is good for you.

  • Thanks for posting such a thorough (and positive) review. The feedback is excellent. We’ll take it to heart and work through some improvements.

What would you say is the #1 thing we can do to earn that 5th star and create a better experience for our customers?

The 4 star (or the 1 missing star) is for different things which I can’t remember all for now. Just what comes to the mind now:
    – I’d love to have more flexibility with customisation which can be done without any codes but just with ticking boxes: for example the colour of the main menu (top right corner), the font style and colour of the text on the main page on the main picture, etc.
    – the Stellar theme seems quite beautiful when you see the demo but then it turns out that the two buttons is not its standard functionality
    – while ignitiondeck is a whitelabel solution you can’t just untick a box saying “don’t show “ignitiondeck” at the bottom of the page” – you need to write come code for that
    – this strange necessity to write rewards level twice so that they are somehow linked: if something goes wrong on the front submission page or if the admin wants to add some reward level himself he needs to link it in two places in the admin dashboard which is not quite straightforward
These are things that just come to my mind now.

And the payment gateway – the most important thing – I thought that it should be done like a separate module / plugin: if you want PayPal, install paypal module separately and enjoy it, like the different modules you have. So if you want your own gateway, make it as a module, link it to the main IDC or whatever and enjoy it. But as far as I understood my developer you can’t do it that way: you need to alter the code directly, and each time there is an update you need to look what has been changed to understand whether you can copy-paste your gateway code easily or you need to do some changes again.
