• Hi everyone

I have 2334 posts which are not evergreen content. They cost me a lot of money to have hosted and as I don’t need them, I’m trying to figure out the best way to get them off the server. If I delete them, I presume google will be unhappy? So I’m looking for solutions where I keep the posts archived sonehow, so they aren’t deleted and affecting my SEO but aren’t costing me a fortune in hosting. I did look at an archive plugin on the site itself, which I’ll use for some posts going forward, but there comes a time when certain posts just aren’t read any more and I need to do something with them to stop my site becoming a massively unwieldy monster!

I’m not at all technical so please bear that in mind when making suggestions!

    Thank you very much.

In what way do these posts cost money?

Thanks deereviewer I’ll take a look.

Steve – because I’m paying for my own server because of all the data and without it, or at least a more optimised way of storing some old posts I can reduce my host costs.

The data (aside from images) is just a couple of rows in your database. If that’s getting large, try a plugin like “wp sweep” to clean up old revisions, spam comments, etc.

Even if you somehow moved your old posts outside of WP, you’d still have to have those image files, so I don’t see that strategy buying anything for you.
