Having v.2.6 – I downloaded the Snoopy update files – copied the 2 files to the includes dir. and logged into WP – I was asked to update the database files – ? Is this OK to do with these files on a 2.6 version (not an upgraded version 2.6.2) – or could this action break the current installation.

I have since replaced the original files to the includes dir.

    Thanks for your valued responses.

  • are you saying that you put the 2 snoopy files (the changed files for 2.6.3) into a 2.6.0 install, not a 2.6.2, or a 2.6.1 install?

Im asking for clarification regarding the 2.6 you mention. And if thats the case, then Im going to ask whether or not you are aware of the changes from 2.6 -> 2.6.2 and then wonder why you havent done the smart thing and upgraded correctly.

I see that you probably took some advice from this post:

Im not sure, obviously if you read the blog posts linked to from Michael, but arguably 2.6.2 from 2.6.0 was a mandatory upgrade.

your unwllingness to buck up and upload the files is curious to me. At what point will you be willing?

    YES

I have not followed the upgrade path from 2.6 to 2.6.2 – this was intended to be a intermediate upgrade until 2.7. If you feel that it will not work and a full upgrade to 2.6.3 would be required to update the Snoopy files then I will heed your advice.

OOps. I overlooked your comment about not allowing registrations in that other post. I had read that thread before too, and figured you were probably ‘safe’ from at least the issue addressed in the 2.6.2

The reason youre seeing the upgrade your db message is due to the version file being changed. If youre not comfortable hitting the upgrade button, you could do this..

Just upload the one snoopy file, and leave your version.php alone. I think youre fine.
